FULL-FRONTAL ASSAULT

Paul Guschlbauer (AUT4) launched a gruelling, full-frontal assault last night on the Neues Weisstor peak east of Zermatt. This bold move might see him draw level with Toma Coconea (ROM) further to the north. Coconea had made the turnpoint earlier and is walking back north towards the Fiesch valley, hoping for a clear, long run to the west, and putting more distance between him and his pursuers.

Pierre Carter (RSA) has been eliminated. He had hoped for a long glide today to try and catch the pack ahead of him but a tailwind prevented him launching.
