Athetes who wish to compete at the 2011 Red Bull X-Alps have until September 30, 2010 to register their intent to participate.

"This will be the toughest Red Bull X-Alps since the race began in 2003," says Arch. "We are searching for the best athletes to give their all in the quest to be first to Monaco. The more experience they can show us, the more professional approach, and the level of their motivation, the better chances they have of being selected."

Only 30 athletes will be chosen to participate in the race which begins in Salzburg, Austria on July 17, 2011.

Honza Rejmanek was the first non-European to stand on the Red Bull X-Alps podium when he took third place in the 2009 event.

Behind every great Red Bull X-Alps athlete, there is a great supporter, as the saying (sort of) goes. It's no secret that Chrigel Maurer's victory in the 2009 Red Bull X-Alps was the result of great teamwork between the Swiss flying ace and his supporter Thomas Theurillat.

Red Bull X-Alps spoke to Thomas about his preparations, his thoughts on the race and what it takes to be a supporter.
